In 2011 this building was
saved from demolition by the Cockatoo community.
In 2012 the building and
grounds were Heritage listed for "significant" reasons.
Through the Cardinia Shire
and the Cockatoo community working in partnership with Local, State and
Federal funding grants the building has been restored as an education centre to
tell the story of this significant part of Victorian history.

many photos of the struggle by communities and individuals during and after the
